About Liberty Blacksmith Works....
After 20 years in the desert, Liberty Blacksmith has packed up the wagon and moved over the mountains near the boom towns of northern Colorado. We have set up in a commercial location and are dealing with the general public again.
We are a traditional blacksmith shop specializing in unique, one-of-a-kind items, repairs, custom tool making, ornamental ironwork and restoration of antique iron using traditional blacksmithing techniques such as riveting. We also weld cast iron, braze, solder, and even pour babbit bearings.
The items on the website represent ones which always sell at craft fairs and rendezvous. They are only an idea of what we can make. Most of our work is custom, although we make plant hangers, no two are alike.
We don't compete with re-sellers of imported junk or mass-produced items at the local box store. A blacksmith can make anything, but it is not cost effective to make a shovel when there are good ones at reasonable prices at the hardware store.
The plant hanger you buy at WallyWorld for $1.98 is worth just that, in a few years it will end up in the landfill. We make plant hangers which are unique, sturdy, and are family heirlooms; but not for a buck ninety-eight.
We make things which will last a lifetime and will be passed on through the generations. Even our simple, inexpensive horseshoe coat racks are good workmanship. All the welding berries are removed, the welds are good and strong, and the piece is primer painted before finish coating several times. Powder coating is available in clear or colors as well.
Liberty Blacksmith has done work for the Bureau of Land Management, Carson City in the Gold Hill Cemetery in Nevada. In Virginia City we have worked for the County and with the Comstock Cemetery Foundation as well as the state Comstock Historic District Commission. We have also done work for city parks departments, and Catholic Churches.
In short, we are not a cyberspace creation. We are a manufacturer with equipment ranging from small lathes to metal brakes, rollers, benders and mill. We have a full range of welding equipment from gas, arc, MIG, and TIG, to plasma arc.
